This handcrafted cedar guest retreat built by Peter at Mind Tree Arts was designed to appreciate the land it’s on. Arched eye cutouts, stepped decking, and carefully placed windows frame the surrounding drought-tolerant landscape and invite the outdoors inward. Mariah kept the interiors simple and elemental, wrapping each space in wood and natural light to create a sense of quiet and calm. An outdoor stone shower, cactus garden, and tree-hugging footprint deepen the connection to nature, resulting in a retreat that feels serene, intentional, and intimately tied to its setting. Her client was thrilled to have such a special guest retreat on their land in the spirit of generosity.
